چکیده
A 67-year-old patient, who received a ventricular cardiac pacing system in 1992, was suffering from a staphylococcus aureus sepsis 3 weeks prior to the operation in August 1997. Echocardiography showed a thrombus formation in the right atrium, comprising the tricuspid valve and the right ventricular outflow tract. The surgical treatment consisted of the thrombus extraction and removal of the cardiac pacing system (Figs. 1 and 2).

Intracardiac Thrombosis in Sickle Cell Disease
In patients with sickle cell disease, thrombotic microangiopathy is a rare complication. Also in sickle cell disease, intracardiac thrombus formation without structural heart diseases or atrial arrhythmias is a rare phenomenon. We herein describe a 22-year-old woman, who was a known case of sickle cell-βthalassemia, had a history of recent missed abortion, and was admitted with a vaso-occlusive...
متن کاملClot in Lung, Clot in Heart: A Case Report of Tumor-Like Thrombus in Right Atrium
Tumor-like formation of thrombus in the right atrial cavity is rare. It may be mistaken for a myxoma. The exact pathophysiology of an isolated thrombus in the heart is still unclear. Management to prevent complications such as pulmonary thromboembolism depends on the clinical judgment of a cardiologist. This report describes a 76-year-old woman with right atrial thrombus causing subsequent pulm...
متن کاملAbrupt formation of a right atrium thrombus detected by transesophageal echocardiography during laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy and spontaneous resolution during thromboembolectomy -A case report-
Intraoperative formation and management of a thrombus in right atrium has been reported occasionally. Nevertheless, it is rare that a right atrial thrombus with unstable hemodynamic changes detected by transesophageal echocardiography is resolved spontaneously. We report upon the 44-year-old woman, who had a right atrial thrombus detected by transesophageal echocardiography during laparoscopic ...
متن کاملHolt-Oram Syndrome: A Rare Variant
Holt-Oram syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder, characterised by skeletal abnormalities of the upper limb associated with congenital heart defect, mainly atrial and ventricular septal defects. Skeletal defects exclusively affect the upper limbs in the preaxial radial ray distribution and are bilateral and asymmetrical. They range from clinodactyly, absent or digitalised thumb, hypoplastic...
متن کاملLarge Thrombus Formation from Right Atrial Incision Site after Closure of Atrial Septal Defect
Atrial septal defect (ASD) is the common congenital anomaly which requires surgical interventions. Right atrial thrombus formations after primary suture repairs of the ASD and evidences of thromboembolic complications are extremely rare. Specifically, the cases of thromboembolic complications have high mortality and morbidity risks. Two cases of giant intra-atrial thrombus formation detected in...
